Changing Emails on Kaseya Alerts and Monitor Sets

Kaseya makes it easy to add or replace email addresses on specific alerts and monitor sets.     They can be changed down to the specific machine and specific alert.    While none of these changes are difficult, some (like changing Event Set Alerts) are a little tedious, but hopefully the instructions below will help.

To change Alerts go to Monitor> Agent Monitoring> Alerts

You will be shown the “Summary” of all alerts.  Use “Select Alert Function” to view a specific Alert.

In the example below the current email recipient donotreply@virtualadmins.com will be replaced by help@virtualadministrator.com for the Agent Status alert

Select Alert Function: Agent Status

    1. Click on the pencil/paper icon to load the current settings to the configuration above.

    1. Type in the new email address – help@virtualadministrator.com.
    2. Make sure to check the appropriate radio button for Use “Add to current list” (adding email to the list) or “Replace list” (replacing the other email)
    3. Check the boxes next to the machine(s) you want to update.

Event Log Alerts have their own page in the console (starting with 6.1).

To change Event Log Alerts go to Monitor> Agent Monitoring> Event Log Alerts

  1. Use the pencil/paper icon to load the settings.  The email address is on the “Set Alert Actions” tab.   Don’t forget to click “Replace list” radio button, unless you are adding the new email to the list.  (Note: the red “X” will delete the set).
  2. Change the email address to the new address.
  3. Check the “Replace List” radio button if you are replacing email address.
  4. Check the boxes next to the machine(s) you want to update.
  5. Click “Apply” and the Email Address will be updated.

Each Event set inside each Log Type must be edited individually.

TIP:   Modify one machine or your template(s) first, and then use the “Copy Settings” function (see this blog post) on the Agent tab to update all the Event Logs as needed (using views to segment) using that machine as the master.

Monitor Sets can be edited from the Assign Monitoring page in the console.

Go to Monitor> Agent Monitoring> Assign Monitoring

Monitor sets have two icons – pencil/paper and pencil/graph

The pencil/graph is used to edit the setting of the Monitor Set itself – i.e. threshold, sample interval, etc.

Follow the same basic process to change the email address as mentioned above:

    1. Use the pencil/paper icon to load the settings.
    2. Change the email address to the new address.
    3. Check the “Replace List” radio button if you are replacing email address.
    4. Check the boxes next to the machine(s) you want to update.
    5. Click “Apply” and the “Email Address” will be updated.

NOTE ON TEMPLATES:  When a new agent is installed with your installation package the settings of the templates are applied to the new agent.  In order for new agents to have an updated email address the templates also must be updated.

Tips:

  • If you are adding multiple email addresses you may not see all of them in the Email Address filed.  To confirm the addresses use the pencil/paper icon to load the setting to the larger box at the top of the page.

  • Use the Views filter to work on certain types of machines – i.e. workstations or servers.

  • Use Distribution lists on your email system to change names in and out.  As we mentioned at the beginning, while it is not difficult to change email addresses, it can be a little tedious!  It is much easier to swap a name on your email system, then to keep changing in Kaseya.

Hope this helps you change your email addresses!  Please leave comments below if you have any other tips or suggestions!
